I am setting up my website to use the paypal password management script but am having trouble with the basic authentication. I have put the page I want protected in a seperate folder with the .htaccess file. The problem is when the "parent" page of the protected page is loading on a web browser it is asking for the password. The parent page has the link to the protected page in a navagation bar and the link to the protected page will not load fully without asking for the password. I thought the parent page would load and only when the link to the protected is clicked should it ask for the password. My web is built in FP2002.My url is www.thecoachsclipboard.com When you go to that page there is a link on the left to Player Rankings. That is the parent page of one of my protected pages. when you go there it will ask you for a password. click cancel and the page will continue loading. All the links on the left will load except for "QB Rankings" That is my protected page. Please someone help. I have tried everything I can think of.

You should create a "members" directory and put all of your protected content in it (including images). You should try to avoid having spaces or punctuation marks like ! in your web page file names.

I tried eliminating the ! from the page file name. And tried transferring all the image files into the members folder. It is still asking for the password on the unprotected parent page when the link to the protected child page tries to load. What Next?????

I still see http://www.thecoachs...r Rankings!.htm

You need to set it up so that it's http://www.thecoachs...er_Rankings.htm

The /members/ is the most important part of it.

First off I want to say thanks for responding Patrick. The Player_Rankings.htm I don't want in the /members/ folder because that is the parent page of the page I want protected. The QB_Rankings.htm is the page I put in the /members/ folder to protect. But when the Player_Rankings.htm is loading the nav link to QB_Rankings.htm it is asking for the password. It should only ask for the password when the QB_Rankings.htm link on the parent Player_Ranking.htm page is clicked on.
