Hi,

I hate to bring up this topic again, but I cant get help from any of the older posts on the subject.

Here is the problem:

I have enabled IPN and set the URL and tested it. I also have the return vars set like so (real URLs used of course)
<input type="hidden" name="cancel_return" value="cancel.url">
<input type="hidden" name="return" value="return.url">

Just for kicks, I even have a notify_url var set in the form as well.

Everything works fine, but no matter what I do, paypal will not send a customer back to the return or cancel url's, nor does it contact my IPN script. I have checked the www error logs and there is nothing in there for my IPN script (as far as this goes). The IPN script works fine and has been tested. I am using the _cart command for this.

Any ideas on how to make this work? Its driving me crazy!

This is just a thought, but do your "real URLs" have http:// at the start? If not, then try that.

There may be an issue with the "upload" version of the Cart.

What do you mean by upload version of the cart? I wrote this cart in CF myself and there is no problem with that part of it. If a user pays for an ebay auction, the paypal servers post to my IPN URL. If a user buys something from my cart, it does not post to the IPN script, nor does it use the cancel or return URL's.

here is how it is .. am i missing something here?

<form action="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr" method="post">

<input type="hidden" name="item_name_1" value="TEST ITEM">
<input type="hidden" name="item_number_1" value="5">
<input type="hidden" name="amount_1" value=".01">
<input type="hidden" name="quantity_1" value="1">

<input type="hidden" name="cmd" value="_cart">
<input type="hidden" name="upload" value="1">
<input type="hidden" name="notify_url" value="http://SiteURL/IPNScript.cfm">
<input type="hidden" name="cancel_return" value="http://SiteURL/CancelScript.cfm">
<input type="hidden" name="return" value="http://SiteURL/ReturnScript.cfm">
<input type="hidden" name="custom" value="DynamicCustomValue">
<input type="hidden" name="business" value="MyID">

<input type="submit" value="Proceed to Payment" name="Submit">
</form>

For now I have gone back to "_xclick" and set everything up as a single item...

When in doubt, use Single Item Purchase!

Perhaps you should use the script by eliteweaver to test your IPN to see if there is a problem with your IPN script. Just because it works with Ebay doesn't neccessarily mean it will work correctly with your cart, expecially if you are relying on something that ebay is sending to paypal.
