rm value of 2 - What does it mean?

From the manual...

"If rm is set to “2” and if a “return” value is submitted, the buyer will be sent back to the return URL using a POST method, to which all available transaction variables will also be posted."

Is there an example of how these variables are passed to the return URL? I'm not clear what is really possible here and an example or two may have illustrate possibilites.
